Day 1 of DC Bday Madness.

"It’s Dragon Cave’s eighth birthday! To commemorate what is an eternity in internet years, today there’s an amazing new update:

You can now breed Guardians of Nature with other dragons. That’s right, they’re breedable. But don’t get the wrong idea here, you aren’t going to get more of these legendary dragons from breeding. Instead, the offspring have a chance to be one of three new breeds: The Avatars of Creation, Destruction, and Change.

Which Avatar you receive from breeding depends on a new attribute of breeds called their elemental affinity. There will be more information on the element system later (including as part of the encyclopedia), so for now, you just need to know that each breed may be aligned with one of the three avatars, and breeding with a Guardian of Nature has a chance to breed that avatar.

Oh, and the limit on Guardians of Nature will be going up to three. Enjoy!"

Most people are breeding and getting nada, so a lot of grumbling. Also, as of now, based on comments on the post, the summon option for that third one is not showing up yet.

Me, I'm waiting. I can do this at anytime. Keeping slots open for the next 6 nights, and what is to come. I'm sure there will be hybrids as well, but the more slots I have for new eggs from the cave, the better.

I got no eggs from breeding my GoNs, and a failed summon. Ah well. At least I have two adult GoNs, so I can keep trying.

I noticed I didn't have the Summon action on my Ices, but I did on the Thunders.

I'm a bit surprised that they are so low producing right off the bat. I can kind of understand the frustration people are feeling. Day one of a big event, and a super low success rate. Well so far anyway. Previous bday hybrids were more cooperative.

I got one! with a Fever Wyvern; and a succesfull summon (my sencond GON :) )

I do not think there will be more for the birthday, to be honest. Last year you got an info that there will be a week of releases, this time there isn't.

I got no egg from breeding my only GoN with Mint and my other Summon is on cooldown.
But I am excited about the news and hope the new hybrids will look pretty. I hope I can breed pretty checkers, also with other hybrids!

I had no luck breeding my one GoN (got a "produced nothing" or "not interested" from the pairing), and couldn't Summon a second one. My one and only Guardian came to me over three years ago. *shrugs* My mum had no luck Summoning one at all.

No biggee.

It doesn't say anything about "Day One" or a first day, so I'm thinking this might be the only thing for the birthday which is fine with me. The stress last year was really not-fun in the long run (esp since I've never seen another CB copper egg since then), so would be just as happy if this is it.

The second is DC's birthday (May 21), which falls on a Wednesday this year. The event will begin at midnight EST (that is, the time after 11:59:59 on May 20), and details will be announced at that time.

Thanks gommeke! I decided to follow your lead and bred my GoN with a Fever Wyvern. I got a destruction egg! :) No luck with the Summonning though, but I already have 2 GoN - even if I froze one as a hatchling.

Tried to summon a third GoN, without success. Haven't tried breeding my one adult yet, will first look into other people's attempts, because I can't decide on a mate yet.

I'm not sure it will be a week long event like last year, though. It didn't say anything in the news post of "Day One", or that there will be more to follow.

ETA: Tried to breed my GoN with a Speckle Throat. Well, they only wanted the sex, but didn't feel inclined to breed, even with double-fertility.

Although I really don't want to go through last year's stress again, I hope there is something more to this birthday. As it is, it seems very elitist, geared only towards older players. You need to have at least one each of the three legendaries, then you have to have been lucky enough to successfully summon a GoN, and only then you might be lucky enough to get an egg when breeding your dragon with no clue regarding what works. Ragdoll's mum hasn't managed to Summon a GoN and she has been playing for a long time, so she is not invited to the party, I suppose most newbies are in the same boat (and by newbies I mean anybody that started playing within the last year or two). Not fair in my opinion.

I wasn't successful in summoning another GoN and I think I'll wait some days before breeding the one I own, just like I always do when it comes to new dragons only attainable through breeding.

You're probably right about this being all there is to the event. But, just in case there is more, I'll wait until tomorrow or the weekend to start working on breeding them. :)

Yeah, it sure looks like this may be all there is too it this year. Which, like you I was not looking forward to a week long drop. It was too much, and too stressful. However, I would have liked to have seen something everyone could enjoy and celebrate together. This leaves a lot of people on the outside, looking in.

I agree 100% on this. It is excluding a lot of people, and disappointing a lot of newbies who are here for their first DC birthday. It shuts almost all of them out of it.

Plus how wonderful for those people who froze their second GoN as a hatchie, knowing it would never be able to breed.

While I was hoping he would NOT do a massive release and am glad he didn't, I think this was not a well thought out event.

Very pretty, congrats!! :) I'm going to hold off until the weekend I think. Even if this is it, I want to wait a bit, see where others are having the most success, and what pairings are producing what egg.

I don't feel like people are being left out -- it's like a surprise gift. We don't know when we'll get another Guardian (I haven't managed to Summon a second one in over three years) or one of the eggs, so it's kind of an extended thing. I don't know - the level of complaining and whining in the News thread is just staggering.
