I actually like deadlines, but I prefer when both ancestors have tombstones instead of only one, since that does feel a little like an easy way to get a shorter lineage.
Even so, I still value deadlines of any kind more than long messy lineages and I would continue a deadline if I got one. But then I like to continue lineages as long as they're clean, not matter if it's spiral or stair or EG or PB.
