Dragon Names
Oct. 11th, 2013 12:16 amHello Dragoncavers!
Do you have any interesting or funny names you could get for your dragons or lineages with a special theme? Song names, band names, from movies etc.?
I was very very shocked today to find out that I could get...Modern Talking(!) - and it cracked me up. The very best of the best of the 80ies! Ahahahahaha! [If you don't know them, check them out! Other people from Germany/Europe will know them, pretty sure.]
But I didn't stop then. In fact I have so many names now that I am planning to build a Modern Talking EG.
I have:
Dieter Bohlen
Thomas Anders
Wife NORA (if you know Modern Talking you know that Thomas wore a large gold NORA chain :D)

Date: 2013-10-10 04:22 pm (UTC)Modern Talking was a Big Thing with us, too. Everything is awesome and funny when you're drunk with the police party people - we played the "Back For Good" CD and the "Schlagerbild" again and again and again. And we went clubbing, too, mostly Techno and Trance. "Techno macht glücklich!" was our motto. *g*
Oh, and of course I don't mind. I think it's hilarious! *g*
I name my dragons places/cities/locations/food from all over the world (but mostly Scotland), some for fandoms I am or was in, and some just Welsh/Irish/Scottish names. Some after their parents, some as inspiration strikes, some just for fun.

Date: 2013-10-10 08:06 pm (UTC)Mostly, I use the dragons' features or attitudes, colours, the dragon's parents or who I got them from, that feature in the naming process. They all, also, have 'Halo' in the name somewhere to make them mine. I know I'm going to have to start expanding on this though, which is why I got my daughter to help me. She's the one that turned me on to the anime characters. I have used books, movies, tv shows and quotes though.
My original two-headed Dragons are named for famous twins Harry Potter: Fred-n-George and Pavarti-n-Padma.
I've also got MaryKate-n-Ashley (Full House) & Hikaru-n-Karou. (Ouran High School Host club)
My vampires are named from some of my favorite vampires: from Buffy I've got Drusilla, the Hellsing anime gave me Seras and Alucard, and Kisten and Ivy Tamwood from Kim Harrison's Hollows series books.
The dinos I have are named after The Land Before Time movie dinosaurs: Longneck, Spike and Cera.
I have a Magi named Death to Isengard. And my daughter named one of the male Pinks: Boys Can Wear Pink.

Date: 2013-10-11 02:40 am (UTC)Several of my Christmas dragons are named from the Latin versions of Christmas carols, etc., so I'm sometimes surprised when they're not taken; it seems really obvious? Especially considering that "Gloria In Excelsis Deo" WAS taken. (But I got around that by clever use of a double-space.) So far I have:
Gloria In Excelsis Deo
Et In Terra Pax
Tu Solus Dominus
Tu Solus Altissimus
Laudamus Te
Benedicimus Te
Adoramus Te
Glorificamus Te
No prize for guessing the names of my 2013 Christmas pair. :D
I also named two from a carol I really love:
Gaudete Christus Est Natus
Ex Maria Virgine
I will probably do more from this source, too. :D

Date: 2013-10-12 05:58 am (UTC)Hands down, Modern Talking rocks - even without alcohol I can dance and sing to it!
I have decided to take Ultraviolet dragons for my Modern Talking line, purebreed. I don't have enough dragons for all names at the moment, though!
Dieter & Naddel look so good together xD

Date: 2013-10-12 06:02 am (UTC)Fred-n-George, Alucard, Longneck, Spice and Cera are awesome!
When I started to play I tried to invent names but it got more and more difficult. I also used "Mondat" as a surname, similar to your "Halo".

Date: 2013-10-12 06:07 am (UTC)Oh wow I have never thought about using carols - might be it's because I don't celebrate Christmas (anymore) ;D
Yes a mighty double-space can get you some good names, I have recognized this the day before yesterday too!
