Luck with GoN

How are people doing with these? I have one GoN which I got three years ago. I still haven't summoned a second one, let alone a third. My mom's not managed to summon one yet either.

I've had no luck breeding avatars yet either. First week, I tried Majestica with a CB gold male. Interested, but no egg. The second week, I stupidly tried her with a Spotted Greenwing and got a Spotted Greenwing. This week, I tried her with a Holly, and got 'interested, but no egg' again.

Clearly these GoNs hate me.

Sounds like you two are sharing a run of bad luck. A long run. :( I got lucky, by God standards, and only tried for about 9 months before I got my first one, then my second like a month later. Only had one try in so far for a third, will try again this weekend. Avatar wise, out of 4 attempts I've gotten 3 and a refusal. Of my 2 adult avatars, I tried both 2gs and got one avatar, and another refusal. Will try everyone again this weekend.

Seriously. I've had trios since the beginning, and my one and only GoN showed up February of 2011. I've been trying to Summon a second one since then pretty much every 2 weeks. Just tried again this morning, and nothing. :p

Not sure why I'm having such bad luck breeding. It seems like other people (including people here) are getting eggs easily, but mine just isn't cooperating. My mom's had trios for at least a year or two, and she's very frustrated at the lack of even one GoN. She managed to get a 3G Avatar (the rose-gold one) egg gifted to her via the Forum, so she's doing better than I am!

Yeah, almost the same here. I had at least one full set of trios since their initial release (only managed to grab one Thunder at that time, but I did get more over time), and I summoned my first GoN in July 2011.

Now I have quite a collection of Trios, and the chances have been raised - supposedly. We'll see how long it takes this time.

I'd heard rumours that using a female to Summon gave you a better chance, but I don't know if I believe that. Or if there's better luck from one breed over another. *sigh*

Hm, I'm always using females to Summon, simply because they are what's shown to me first. (I custom-sort my scroll, females on top of the males within a breed.) So I guess that's really just a rumour?

I had to wait two years until I got my first GoN in 2011, but then only three months later I got the second one. I now regret that I froze it - I never expected them to be able to breed sometime in the future. So far I had two tries at summoning a third, without success yet.

I was able to breed one Avatar so far and traded for six others. Next try will be in three days, when the intended mate is off cooldown.

I never freeze my dragons, so that wouldn't have been a problem. I don't know why these stupid things won't cooperate. If TJ has raised the percentage of chance, it feels like it's still around 2%. *grumbles*

I was so excited last week when they bred an egg, and thought it was the blue one -- then looked at it closely and realized it was another Spotted Greenwing (which isn't on the list). I kept it because it's still cool and might be good for breeding at some point.

The stuff people were asking for in trade seemed insanely high, so I haven't really looked. What *are* the going rates? (I'm still trying to get a CB gold so I can have one CB female, and can't even 'afford' that)

Well, he says he has. I'm not noticing yet - but then, it's only been two weeks since then, so what can I expect, really.

Oh yeah, with a 2nd gen GoN/Avatar fail you can still create pretty lineages. I would have kept it, too.

Yeah, some people are asking for Neglected Dragons for their 2nd gen Avatars. I have traded with different things so far. Let's see...

2 4th gen Shimmers for 2 2nd gen AoCh,
1 CB Blusang hatchie + 1 2nd gen PB Silver for a 3rd gen AoCr,
2 5th gen Shimmers for 1 2nd gen AoD
2 CB Blusang eggs for 1 2nd gen AoCr,

And now I've seen really messy Avatar lineages, but people are asking for CB Golds anyway. *shaked head*

So far, my bad luck continues. I tried to breed the 3rd generation Avatar of Destruction so kindly given to me by Alicit, and it too wasn't interested. *headdesk*

I do hope that the percentages are better soon -- it's driving me nuts.

The trading doesn't sound too awful. Not that I have any of those on hand, of course. I haven't managed a CB Gold in about 5 or 6 years, but if I ever manage to breed something, maybe I can *finally* get my CB Gold female after all this time. (I started playing in October of 2008). Or get my mom the one CB Green copper female she needs.

The things people are asking are kind of insane. I probably would just want to blood swap if I can ever manage to get these stupid critters to cooperate. :)

To be fair, most people are asking for bloodswaps. Which doesn't help me, because I only have that one GoN available, and it doens't always want to breed. So if I want more Avatars in a shorter time, I'll try to find people who trade for other things, too, without being too over the top with what they're asking.

Yeah, I started playing in September 2008, and I didn't have much luck catching things - until I got that new compter and the faster internet connection last year.

I only have one GoN as well, so obviously this is just me thinking outloud. My connection is relatively fast, but I haven't seen much of anything rare in a long time, and when I have, I've had no luck catching things. Part of it is just not having the time/patience to sit and wait for something to show up. :-/

By the time I probably DO get my GoN to breed, people will be giving away their Avatars and there won't be anything left for me to trade. LOL I'm probably more okay with not having 2G Avatars this minute since I know eventually I've got to breed something than not having a CB gold female after all this time or not being able to get my mom a CB green copper after a year because they're rarer than they were supposed to be.

Ah well, it's only a game. :)

The patience thing gets me all the time, too. Sometimes I tell myself, okay, just put on some music and go hunting for a while. And then I do so, and get frustrated anyway, when I see the shinies but am too slow to catch them. Too slow, because of disbelief - like: Really, I was totally waiting for a Gold and it actually shows up right away? And whooosh...somebody else took it while I was still staring.

Exactly. The few times I've seen a gold egg or even more rarely, a copper, I just wind up staring like a moron before I think to engage my fingers. By which point,it's long gone. I am not a patient person so sitting there refreshing the page while nothing changes forever or is the same 3-4 eggs over and over can only last a short while before I give up.

I got my first GoN in March 2011 although I had been summonning since they were first announced. Then I got my second in April 2011, but I decided to freeze it as they were supposed to be unbreedable and male and female had the same form... I would never need two adults, right? I have tried twice to summon the third one, but no luck yet.

As for avatars... I got one with a Fever Wyvern on the first day of the release and no interest in a Thunder dragon for the last to weeks. I have managed to breed a couple of third gens though.

It's also a shame there's no way to unfreeze things -- in another game I play (Unicreatures) there are magic items to freeze and unfreeze. It would be a useful thing to have on DC for just this reason.

I can understand the logic behind it though. Like the Christmas and Valentine's dragons, why would anyone need two (well, at least THEY breed, but you couldn't keep them).

My mom got a 3rd gen from someone on the Departure thread which is the rose gold one. As soon as that grows up, she'll try and breed one for me, but it's so frustrating. Everyone's success stories are just making me sad. (Yes, I know, they're only pixels!)

Those strokes of bad luck are awful. I hope your luck improves soon.

I managed to summon my first GoN last year (which means it took me... almost three years to finally summon it! And I used to keep notes with the next day I could try, so I know I tried almost every two weeks since it was released) and got the second one a few months after the first. I haven't been successful summoning the third.

As far as breeding goes, my only adult GoN has given me one non-interested the previous week and two eggs, one the week of the release (I traded it) and the second one this week, so I can't complain.

Me too. It's like my inability to get another CB gold egg because I have no CB females. I had three males from the days when it was easier to catch them, but there was no gendering ability, and my first 13 golds (a lot of them messy) were all males!

I need to keep trying to Summon the GoN. I didn't realize it was over 3 years until I checked today.

I'm hoping there will be an egg next week. I was really excited last week when she mated with the Spotted Greenwing. Until I realized it wasn't a blue Avatar, but another Spotted Greenwing. >

Aw, sorry you're not having much luck so far.

I got my first GoN in June 2011, my second in April 2012, and my third today!

Breeding Avatars started off sloooowly but got better - got nothing the first week, one Avatar of Creation the second week (with Silver) and two Avatars of Change this week (one for a trade IOU and one to keep).

Congratulations on your third one! I'm just gobsmacked that I haven't had any luck at all in over three years. Even with the supposed better odds, I'm still s.o.l.

I'm assuming that if/when I get more than one GoN, I might have better luck at breeding something. Right now it's like pulling teeth because I have one shot once a week, and it's been fail, might-as-well-be-a-fail (since it's a Spotted Greenwing -- the only cool thing is at least it's a 2nd Gen from a GoN parent, right?), and another big fat fail.

This game should not upset me so much. :p I wasn't even bothered by the fact that this was our only Birthday present since I figured "in a week or two, I'll have an egg".

I feel worse for my mom who isn't having any luck at Summoning, although she did nab a Avatar egg from someone on the Departures thread so she's in better shape that I am. :)

Thanks! I really wasn't expecting to get my 3rd GoN so soon. It was a year to get my first one, almost another year to get my second -- I figured it would take another year to get my third. I'd started collecting more Thunders and Ices (I already have zillions of Magmas, they're one of my favorite dragons) to try to up my trio sets and increase my chances. Now I can breed trios for others instead.

It is too bad that the birthday celebration was a frustration for so many people who haven't been able to summon GoNs after all these years. I expect Avatars, at least, will become a bit easier to come by after people have bred/traded for their own scroll goals.

I don't know why it's taken me so long. I mean a year, okay? Three years? Come on now! When TJ announced he'd upped the chances, I was sure I'd finally get the second one and...nope. Clearly the Powers of Thunder, Lava and Ice have something against me. LOL

I don't have a zillion. I currently have 7 Ice, 8 Magma and 8 Thunders. I like them, but not to overrun my scroll with them. Clearly I have to keep making more.

Well, I know how you feel. It's always hard to see other people get the new eggs when you can't get any. I know I've been lucky, but it didn't feel that way two weeks ago when my summon failed, AND both of my GoNs gave me no egg!

I just figured that breeding/catching more trios was something I could do to feel like I was doing *something* to increase my chances, instead of waiting two weeks and pushing a button. I've currently got 10 Thunders, 11 Ices and 47 Magmas. I don't know how much it increases the chances to have more sets, but it doesn't hurt!
