The Encyclopedia
Oct. 23rd, 2014 09:30 amSo, what are your thoughts on the encyclopedia? Have you played around already, ignored, or even unlocked the complete information on a breed?
I wasted about four hours on it yesterday, unfogged/un-shadowed the pages for all of the breeds (except Zombies, for those I had to wait until this morning, of course), and unlocked the complete information on Speckle Throats. Here's a reason to re-install snaplinks again. *g*
And while I don't mind the slow unlocking of information, I'm really bummed that the stats don't show all my previously raised dragons. If TJ could give us that, I think I could love the encyclopedia.
ETA: Also, I wonder if it leads to more popularity for sites like Daily Dragon Fix, where you need a daily click quota to keep playing.

Date: 2014-10-23 08:55 am (UTC)I do not know how it works yet, but I have three(?) adult Zombies and one hatchling which can be clicked if needed, they are relatively at the top of my scroll. I hope I will have more soon.
I also have one ND and four Hollies.

Date: 2014-10-23 12:12 pm (UTC)I also un-fogged some breed images but have no motivation to do all...
Good thing is that I have almost no frozen hatchlings. That means I will have to collect/breed them for scroll completion & the images are going to be unlocked by doing so. It would annoy me SO much to "observe" all the hatchlings.
Well, I think this "dragonopedia" is nice for times where I have nothing else to do :)

Date: 2014-10-23 12:36 pm (UTC)Finding a hoarder for a breed and just snapping their scroll works fine for me.
ETA: Or if I'm in a good mood, clicking my way through the lot on DDF, like I did this lunch break. That was nice and easy, too.

Date: 2014-10-23 01:59 pm (UTC)Then I clicked a bunch of dragons on fansites, and then I played catch and release on the AP to get a bunch of egg sprites. (Only takes one "owned" to unlock the egg sprite, so that's an easy way to get them.)
I will probably go back and breed/raise a bunch of dragons to unlock some of the egg and hatchling images. It will give me something to do.
I hope Daily Dragon Fix does become more popular again -- I've been using it almost since I started playing, and I like it a lot. It is a great way to click a lot of dragons.

I agree so much, and yes, I've been using it for years. I like that it isn't automated like other click sites - less risk of eggs getting sick. And it's very soothing to my eyes, too.

Date: 2014-10-23 09:27 pm (UTC)I really think that people who have been playing for a long time should have something to show for it. Sheesh.

Date: 2014-10-24 04:52 am (UTC)Less than two minutes on littleblackdog's scroll and snapclicking their 500 chickens unlocked everything chicken for me, for example. No need to raise more, or spend hours and days and months on clicking sites.

Date: 2014-10-23 11:42 pm (UTC)I'm... a little amused that it won't show me what an adult Dorsal looks like when I follow the link from its egg, given that it does show me both hatchling stages... and I have a billion Dorsals on my scroll already. (AND and, the outline is so exact that combined with the description I don't really know what they think they're hiding.)
Overall conclusion: weird.
Neatest thing: I take this to mean we're going to learn more about the "elemental affinity" thing at long last, since it's listed!
