Halloween Event

The carnival is back in town, there's trick-and-treating, and Halloween breeding has started. Yay!

I'm happily egglocked with my own breeding projects - sooooo pretty! - and now I'm going to explore. And click other people's eggs/hatchies/dragons. Because I'm almost done unlocking everything there is right now on the encyclopedia, thanks to some hoarders I found in the DC records. Well, for the commons, obviously. It's a whole other thing for seasonals, holidays and ultra-rares. *g*

I am also locked but with pretty eggs (Pumpkins and BM) from the AP. 2Gs & 3G perfect checkers.
Finally I've decided to take care of the hatchling sprites for my scroll this year, so I am going to freeze most of them. Will do the same for coming Christmas & Valentine. Again, too bad we only have one week :I

When mine are hatched, maybe I'll be lucky and find something for continuing those lineages next year on the AP. Has worked out fine those past years due to multi-clutches and autoabandon, so I'm in good hope.

A PB 4th EG Pumpkin or Shadow Walker, or a PB 5th EG Marrow for example, would be awesome.

I grabbed a PB 4EG Marrow in the AP yesterday. If I had known earlier you'd would look for these I could have given it to you.
But if I find something I'll pm you. (One more day waiting until the eggs hatch grrr wanna go AP hunting!)

You know what? There I was, thinking I had planned it all well in advance, including using fertility on all my couples (I wanted to make sure, because one pair refused each other when I tried breeding the common mate. Worked this time, I got a egg. But this means this lineage will end here, because I can't trade for bloodswaps...) - well, anyway, what use is a lineage spreadsheet when I don't look right, or when I forget half of it?

Because I totally already have that 4th gen PB Marrow! It's even listed as a potential mate, with the offspring clearly labeled "Halloween 2015". Argh. And I do have two more 3rd gen Shadow Walkers to create one more 4th gen, only I forgot to put them on the spreadsheet.

So, it's really only 5th gen PBs that I need to hunt for...

Well, considering 5th gens are rather "rare", I will still pm you if I encounter one. You never know.

I want to snag some 2G Pumpkins this year, but that's about it this go round. I tried to grab some last night and realized I'm at 21/21 due to an army of fogged "zombie fodder" hatchies. Thankfully 7 are at 0 days right now so I will be able to hit the AP soon. :)

This years carnival, I'm kinda disappointed. All the stalls in town have nothing going on at all. And I was able to get through it in like 15-20 minutes, on my phone last night. The items are nice, but it seemed so short this time. Hopefully there will be an add on before it comes to a close.

What do you mean, short? The four dragon quests and the additional one in town were a lot longer and much more complicated than last year, a lot more to read, too.

I don't know, it just seemed "quick" to me. Maybe because I did it on my phone, while watching TV, and not 100% focused on it like I'd be if I was on my PC. Or maybe I missed a part.

ETA- I have 24 items from this years and 2011 had 40, but I don't recall how many were original and how many got added with part 2 of the HH.

I mean, I got through it pretty quick, too, but that's always the case for me. It just seemed like there was a lot more text to read than usual, longer texts, too.

Or maybe it seemed longer to me because I'm not much interested in the worldbuilding of DC. *g*

As I recall, quite a few items in 2011 were red herrings - you took them, but you didn't actually need them.

Too many Halloween breeds! I've been sorting through my dragons, trying to decide which self-bred ones I really need to keep, and how many I can hatch before Halloween, and how many spaces I have for AP hunting, and, well, I'm just going to have to let a few of my breeding plans go. I'm locked now, with 2 AP catches, 1 trade, and 4 self-bred eggs. One of the AP catches I might toss back -- it's a 3EG PB Marrow, which is pretty, but not vital -- but the other is this:

Next year, I'm going to have to concentrate on a few lineages and stop trying to collect several of each breed. There are just too many now.

Yeah, I've already restricted myself to Marrows, Shadow Walkers and Pumpkins. Don't care about the rest.

My Marrow/Silver lineage will be finished next year, my Shadow Walker/Moonstone just got finished (because getting a mate for him will be highly unlikely) - so I guess I'll have some open slots for AP hunting next year.

Nice catch! I'm not a fan of spriter's alts, but it's a pretty unusual lineage.

I'm not really huge on spriter's alts, but I do like to collect at least one example of each, and I didn't have any of the Wrapping-Wings yet. Plus, I do think they're very pretty -- I like them better than the regular Wrapping-Wings. No idea what I'll breed it with. Maybe I'll just sit and look at it. :)

(I'd really love to have an egg from Marri's pink pumpkins, though!)

I just counted up all the eggs I'd still like to breed & keep, and came up with 9, which is doable if I don't mind that a few will still be waiting to hatch when the new Halloween drops begin. They'll all hatch before the end of Halloween, so I can still catch my 7 new ones, but I don't like my scroll not being open when new holiday eggs drop! (It was easier at Christmas, when we were limited to two new eggs anyway.) Well, we'll see. Have to wait for the current batch to hatch before I can do anything more anyway.

We all feel each other's pain when deciding what to do during holiday breeding season. Since Halloween last year was my first DC holiday and there are so many Halloween/holiday breeds already, I decided to give up on progressing with breeding projects higher than 3G (with the exception of 1-3 lineages I adore too much, Yulebuck x '09 Valentine for instance <3). Breeding the pretty 3Gs for the AP and AP hunting for my scroll collection it is. AP hunting is much fun so it is good.

Thanks! I love AP hunting during holidays, it's so much fun to look for pretties! But I have so many I want to breed, too. I have a couple of checkers that are reaching 6th gen -- male Marrow x female Silver and male Pygmy x female Pumpkin, and I really want to finish those, plus I had caught a couple of Valentines with Halloween parents that needed mates, and I like to breed PB Even gens from all my CB Halloweens and take those to at least 4th gen. If I do all those, I won't have much room left for AP hunting! So I have to decide what can wait until next year. Partly it will depend on what I find in the AP, and I will have to be careful to make sure everything hatches in time to fill my scroll with new releases.

I also will breed for the AP, once I get sorted out what I plan to keep, and whether I get any breeding requests from others.

I am so locked it's not even funny! I forgot to breed my own first and then go AP hunting. Now I'm not sure if I should breed at all.

the 'carnival' was nice this time, I wonder what the dragon at the end was.
