I just went to the Thuwed page and got on the Thuwed list again.
Same pairing like first & last time - Guardian x Mint - but this time I chose a Mint specifically :D So...absolutely no regrets trading the first one since I made it on the list again, HARR!

I will keep it unless I find something nice to trade it with.

Was your DC Halloween satisfying?

To me, it was. What I got this year:
* 1 ungendered Zombie adult, 5 gendered Zombie hatchlings
* 2 Cavern Lurkers: 2x 2G for freezing
* 2 Shadow Walkers: 2x 2G for freezing
* 6 Graves: 2x 2G PB for freezing, 4x 2G from male GoN :3 (AoD x Grave checker, here I come!)
* 10 new 2014 dragons: 7x cave, 1x from AP, 2x from trading
* 8 Black Marrows: 1x 2G + 1x 3G PB for freezing, 5x 2G PB, 1x 2G from Rosebud (codyne <3) for my 2G Rosebud
* 13 Pumpkins: 2x 3G from perfect checker for freezing, 3x 2G PB, 2x 3G PB, 2x 2G, 4x 3G stair/spiral
(^Glad I took as many Pumpkins as I could while the holiday wall lasted, went to bed and when I woke up the holidays were gone)

My plans for next year? AoD x Grave checker, definitely. But apart from that? No idea. Own PB Desipis line? Or just good old hoarding, a bit from everything?

Next holiday is Christmas.
I know that I am going to take care of the hatchlings sprites. Other than that I will focus on hunting Hollies. And Yulebucks. I do not care much about the other Christmas dragons.
What are your plans?

I have never seen the Thuwed list open, though to be fair I don't check it frequently.

I'm rather happy with DC Halloween this year~
I got:
4 Pumpkins
8 Black Marrows
4 Shadow Walkers
5 Cavern Lurkers
15 Graves (3 of them for freezing)
Al of them 2nd gen.

And 1 male adult Zombie and 7 Desipis.

For next year my main goal is to get two female adult Zombies and get more 2nd gens that are not Graves. I wasn't planing to catch so many this year, after all...

For Christmas my only goal is to work on my Winter Magi x Royal Crimson checker and Hollies. I really want to catch a 2nd gen one this year.
Also getting two Solstice for freezing, but other than that find pretty 2nd gens to create checkers~

But today morning, while I was sipping my morning coffee and looking at my scroll I thought "Let's take a look!" and changed the URL to the Thuwed page - and shockingly, it was open. AND I got on the list of my 2nd favorite pairing again. Just pure dumb luck.

Ah, I forgot about the Zombies. I should get one male adult and the ungendered hatchies. That means Paper/Cheese hunting D:

I really want to catch a 2G Holly this year, too. I think everyone does haha. We are all rivals.

Congrats! I'm jealous; I have NEVER seen the Thuwed list open! I want one, eventually.

I really racked up this Halloween, though, so I'm pretty happy! Lots of my own breeding projects progressed; I have another 3G Lurcher from Purple Nebulae, plus a 2G that I can breed for a 3G Nebula for mate creation purposes. LOTS of SW checkers finally happened, too. (I got a 2G Blusang from SW *just* in time, only to screw up the Influence - I forgot my Walker had come out reverse-gendered - but I'm sure I can get a mate for it next year.)

Finally got some Pumpkins this year, too, so I can do something with them. :D

I am also glad about the Pumpkins I got. The more holidays I get the more helpful for others I become!

New Halloweenie.... eh. Definitely not a favourite, but I predict that breeding with Brutes will be popular. May even do a couple like that myself, who knows?

Yes, I do not have a Holly! :D Still (although I'm holding out slight hope of getting one via the Forum contest...) Would love any and all gifted Hollies, of course! (What lineages do you have? I take it you have multiple Hollies?)

One day, I dream of finding a neat Holly mate for this little Pillow, but that's probably not going to be happening this year. :D

I would prefer to gift them to people who have 0 Hollies though, so everybody can have one (well, this year there should already be more bred Hollies around than last year, if people breed them!). Therefore I will breed the ones I intend to gift on my last fill of Christmas eggs during the breeding period and give them away.
I do hope I can get many Hollies from the AP but I cannot be absolutely certain that they'll be pretty. And of course, the very pretty low-gens are going to be kept, as much as I love you guys from this DW community :P

Congrats on the Thuwed list! I missed it by less than an hour, oh well. I do have one 2G Thuwed, so I can't complain.

I ended up with 10 Desipis -- caught 7 in the cave, 3 in the AP. My goal was to get one extra, to make 4 pairs, so I'm happy!

As for previous Halloweens, I ended up with:

3 Pumpkin
9 Black Marrow
2 Shadow Walker
2 Cavern Lurker
4 Grave

Most of them I bred myself, for mates or lineage projects.

I thought it was awesome that the AP got so backed up with Halloweens that we could go on hunting for several days after Halloween was over! I picked up three extra Marrows, as well as three more Desipis.

All in all, a very satisfying event!

Heh, but one more Thuwed would be nice, wouldn't it? I surely would not complain or refuse to get a place on the list over and over again ;)
I do not care much about Thuweds - as in, I would never trade for one unless it's from a CB hybrid - but having one is admittedly nice. That's why I think I will keep this one, when I already managed to get on the list for an egg from my 2nd favorite pairing again I should keep it, shouldn't I? If I ever get on the Thuwed breeding list again and the hybrid + egg from Albino x Pink spots have been taken I'll probably take "any".

I'm the same regarding Desipis, I would have been happy with one more but then I was "forced" to adopt more. But I have to say, congrats on catching 3 from the AP!
How do you like them? Any breeding plans with them?

AP hunting for so long was heaven, I enjoyed it very much too. Cannot wait for Christmas AP hunting! Please be sure to tell me when you exactly breed your Holly so I can catch the sibling in the AP*g* I am joking! No, actually I am not. Or was I? You'll never find out!

I sure wouldn't mind having another 2G Thuwed! I would love to get on the list again sometime. I don't really know which pairing I'd ask for if I had a choice. Last time, I requested a purple egg, thinking I'd get one from his purple x silver pair, but I got purple x tan ridgewing instead. Oops! Probably if I had another chance, I'd just pick "any."

I like the Desipis -- I like the big, heavy dragons, Brutes and Brimstones and such are also favorites. No plans yet, except to breed 4 2G PBs next year.

Heh, I'd be happy to let you know when I plan to breed my Holly. I will probably check trades first for a 2G Holly swap, so won't breed right away. Still haven't decided what mate I want, either. If I go with Holly x White, I already have a mate for the 3rd gen: http://dragcave.net/lineage/3Y6lM, so I might go with that.

Haha yes, with some eggs you run the risk of getting them from a different pairing. But Purple x Tan Ridgewing is not bad. I remember you once posted a breeding offer for a 3G, may I request one in the future?

It is scary how Holly x White can look so pretty. That you can continue the lineage if you go with White is a good point, too bad you can breed your Holly only once a year*sigh* I am not sure about the CB Holly populace - you probably know more about it than I do - but I`d imagine you could even find a bloodswap for 4G.

I think I've seen Holly x White checkers up to 5th gen -- it's one of the more popular Holly pairings. I know I've seen 4th gens. So that's another thing in its favor. I do have a couple of other 3G Holly checkers, but the white is the only female perfect checker. If this dragon had been a Winter instead of a Summer, I might have gone for Holly x Winter, but that one Summer in the lineage is too odd.

I recall TJ saying at one point back before the raffles that there were around 100 CB Hollies in existence. There were a lot fewer people playing back in 2007, and Hollies were limited to one per scroll. And a lot of those players aren't around any more. In the last four years of the raffles, a lot of people have chosen Hollies for Honorable Mentions, but still, the CB Holly population can't be over 200. At least, with the raffle, the population continues to grow.

Oh, I do not have any preference :) I´ve been warming up to Ridgewings lately, so I do not particularly care.

Holly x Winter is very pretty too. (No matter which mate you take you can be sure it will be loved by maaaany people ;) )
I think Holly would also look good with something green (Vine? too bad NDs are not breedable!). Or with a Guardian or Albino.

I also love the Holly x Pink checkers with Bright Pink bases. Sadly, my Holly refused my only CB Bright Pink. But I could get a Holly from them and try to find a pink mate from someone else. I will probably go with the Holly x White, though.

Halloween was great! I filled my scroll with so many pretty dragons! I'm a bit meh about the Desipis dragon, though. The egg and s1 hatchie were awesome, but I don't like the s2 and the adult sprites. Too much detail, too confusing.

My bounty this year, bred, traded and AP catches:

1 adult Zombie
3 Pumpkins (one for freezing)
4 Marrows (one for trading, one for freezing)
16 Shadow Walkers (three for freezing, one for trading)
3 Lurkers (two for freezing, one for trading)
2 Graves (one for trading, one for freezing)
11 Desipis (three for freezing)

I bred pretty much all of my Halloweens for the AP, too.

Plans for next year: continuing/finishing my lineage projects, maybe start a few new ones.

For Christmas, I plan to breed a Gold x Solstice pair, and maybe hunt for pretty 2nd gens. For lineage starters, or for freezing, depends.

I have somewhat a problem with their name? Desipis...to me they will probably always be 2014 Halloween dragon.

Oh and, I could help you with Gold x Solstice! Can breed you a 2G Solstice or Gold (alas one only, I have one male Gold). I actually thought I`d do that pairing too when the Solstices were fresh out but I lost interest. I am too impatient with metals checkers anyway, they never breed the staff I want.

*g* It's quite funny when I go to the encyclopedia entry for Shadow Walkers - it tells me I owned 436 eggs. I mean, I know I caught and released quite a lot looking for pretty lineages, but 436 is still way higher a number than I would have thought.

I didn't plan on Gold x Solstice, but then I caught this one. And I liked that combination so much, I bred her a mate. And to my surprise, my Gold x Solstice pair produced a Gold right on the first try. So I'm all set for a 3rd gen checker on Christmas now. *g*

But I wouldn't say no to help with a 4th gen checker. If you happen to breed a Gold for me, I'd try to hunt or trade for a Solstice later.

*g* Metal checkers - I don't have many, but they are fairly productive, depending on the mate. Male Silver x Marrow? Works fine! I'm going to try for a 6th gen soon. Male Silver x Ice? Keeps producing Silvers when I need Ice. Female Silver x Speckle Throat? No single Silver yet. Gah!
