Solstice Wing Color Change

I only found out today that the wing colors of Solstice Dragons were retroactively changed. They're either blue or the original color depending on when the egg got laid (day/night). That means before I had both sprites, the old one in CBs and the new one in the bred dragons, but now I have only the old sprite. >_< Now I have to wait a whole year to get the blue variant! AND I have to make sure the egg got bred at the right time!

Were your dragons affected by this?

Only four of my sixteen Solstices turned rosy again, that's a lot less than I had hoped for. I have no use for the blue winged ones, apart from having one or two on my scroll for completion's sake.

But well, four is better than nothing, and that way I could salvage three of my lineages without having to wait a year.

Trading and hunting for Solstices will be a lot more difficult, though, but I'll definitely try.

I don't really care for Solstices so I only had two new ones for sake of having the sprites and both turned.

I think day/night windows are the most complicated.

For me it was very disappointing, because Solstices are the only Christmas breed I really like. So I bred/hunted/traded extensively, before I knew they would have blue wings.

Yeah...I don't know if they plan to implement information on how it will turn out, like with the Day/Night Glories. That would work for me. Otherwise I'd have to trust other players when they tell me "yes, really, I bred that one at night".

...Can't you just count back from the countdown? (Wouldn't work for hatchlings, but for eggs it ought to give you the right time frame, even if incubated.)

That could work, yes, with a lot of concentration on my part. I have to admit I have a hard time keeping DCs day/night time straight.

god I have the same problem. I mostly avoid day/night glories and also sunrise/sunsets. too much fiddling.

Yes, that. I still haven't finished with my scroll goal for Day Glories simply because of that.

I ended with three with the old sprite and two with blue wings.

Making checkers with them and hunting in the AP for ones with the right sprite will be harder, but as long as it's possible to get both I'm ok with this day/night breeding.

In general I'm okay with it as well, I just wished I had at least one blue winged left...

I saw TJ post that it would be retroactive, with no opt out and I was mad. I have the CB originals, and they are my most loved Holiday sprite. I love the colors, body, all of it. BUT ... I also fell in love with the Blues. I went out and collected all I could of them. Picked lineages, traded for pairings I wanted based on them being blue, etc. And ALL mine reverted to the original. :( So, I now have zero blues and wasted trades. I was pissed, but since there is nothing I can do I sucked it up and will wait a year to try for more. But next year will be tougher to find them because there will also be 3g ones in the mix and I prefer 2g.

And like said above I hope there is some way of telling when it was bred, so we don't have to ask people to provide screen shots of their breeding logs or just take them at their word. With anyone here or forum people I KNOW that wouldn't be an issue for me, but unknowns ...

I only had three bred Solstices, and they all reverted to rosy wings. I was expecting it -- two I bred myself, so I knew they were night-time eggs, and the third I picked up off the AP late at night so it was quite likely it would also be a night-time egg. I don't mind, I think both wings are pretty and will work fine in the lineages I've got. I kind of wished at least one of mine would have stayed blue, just to have it. but no problem, I will just wait until next year to get a couple of blues.

yes, at least one blue winged would have been nice. but like you, I bred them all at the same time. well at least that gives me something to do next year, haha.

I had a whole bunch revert, but several stayed blue! I came to the comm a couple of days ago to see if there was any discussion of this yet, because I completely missed the announcment - just scrolled past my Solstices one day and went "waitasecond, that's different! ...waitanothersecond, not all of them?!?!" :D

Do we know which wing colour corresponds to which breeding time frame?

lucky you got to keep some! :) Yeah lately I'm not online that much so I only discovered later. And then I double checked the com to make you hadn't already discussed it.

I think cave night time is original wing and day time is blue? but don't quote me on it. better to check the wiki before breeding next year.
