So, matchmaking is finished, and our hoards are now viewable to all. What did you think of the event? I liked it, but I was a bit disappointed that we only had the same items to decorate with every day, and no new ones were added.

I'm happy with the mate that stayed, though, a Shadow Walker. For a while other breeds appeared that I didn't like so much. The Golden Wyvern looked great in the colour combination, but I don't like the females very much. Although I would have been fine with the Red Copper. I admit, the event did give me a few inspirations for breeding. (I just have to finish my project with the Teimarrs first.)

Take a look! This is Thorin in his hoard. Not really Erebor, I would have needed much much more gold for this, and I used up all my shinies to even get so far. And I know, Legolas and Thranduil don't wear blue and have way longer hair, but for me it's them in the cages anyway. *G*

I liked it for a day or two, then I got bored. Like you mentioned, same stuff every day. I knew based on visitors what dragons I wanted to attract for my boy, and what they desired. I decorated that way, she visited once or twice a day. And then my cb yulebuck got paired at the end with a canopy. Who had never shown up once the whole event. So disappointed.

I hated the way stuff layered. It was so off. Visiting females had their heads crammed between the wall decorations and wall. And for the most part they always faced away from each other.

I stuck a squid on the canopys head. :p If I'd had time after work I would have buried her completely in other items.

I miss the previous years stuff. You could send stuff all day long, it was fun. This was just like decorate, wait 24 hours, then decorate again, more waiting. Plus it was implied the visiting females were to give you an idea of what to do to garner the attention of the final female you'd like for your guy, and from all I've read that was not the case.

Yeah, my Shadow Walker only showed up once before, while other breeds showed up more frequently. On the other hand, I didn't decorate with a certain mate in mind, just what I wanted to use - only magic and shinies - and when I got bored of that because no new things, I finally added some meat and sweets as well.

The layering was weird. In some places it worked, in others not. I actually cleared a space on the right after the first female appeared, so that her hear wouldn't be hidded under mana crystals. And yes, they're facing away from each other. It would have been better if their positions were reversed.

I liked the previous years better, too. One of the best events ever in my opinion was last years flower garden. Collecting seeds, planting them, watching them grow, and then gift them away and write little notes - that was awesome! So much to do, and so pretty!

I'm happy with the mate - a Grave dragon. She'd been around once or twice near the end, and finally stayed. I like the way she's looking towards him from the side, waving her little hands about, like she's not quite sure about this whole thing. And I'm glad I chose a Storm for my male, who's facing to the right, so the pair is actually looking at each other.

(There was one person on the forum whose Pygmy dragon attracted a Desipis -- his back is to her like he's trying to run away. It was pretty funny.)

Decorating was fun, although I was never really happy with what I was able to do.

I didn't know until the last few days that the females were actually supposed to show up in the cave! I had to clear my cache to get them to appear. So I missed quite a few. I had a canopy that kept coming back, and some others. Most of them looked fine, I don't think I'd have been really unhappy with any of them. I kind of wish the Teimarr who came first would have come back so I could see her, at least, but she never came back again after that.

I would have traded all of my misc slots for being able to use more shinies. I wanted more of those piles and piles of gold!

I didn't actively do anything like clearing my cache, so I wondered when the females actually started to appear as images in the cave. I interpreted as maybe their stay was too short/they were too uninterested to actually still be there for me to see.

Ah, I hard refreshed and got the images to load, finally. I like yours! You were more decorative with the items, I like how you lined up the sweets at the bottom.

I ended up using way more meats than I really wanted -- I was trying to appeal to certain dragons, instead of just putting what I wanted in the cave. I probably should have just played with items more. I'm glad we had a day to decorate around the mate, so I could give her some presents and move some of the lizards and frogs way from her.

I'm rather indifferent to this event. The idea was cute, but the lack of new items made it rather repetitive after a few days.

My Haru no Kumo got a Red Copper. I would like the result more if she was facing him.
On the down side, it feels too random since she never visited him before, unlike the Nhiostrife that visited every day and a Grave, a Shadow Walker and a Golden Wyvern the visited several times the last two days.

Oh, how cute! You really built them a love cave. I like that it looks like he's bowing and trying to gift her with the scarf. But yeah, that facing away from each other thing bugs me, too.

Really kind of disappointed in this event. I'm not a regular on the DC forums, so it wasn't until the final day that I even knew you could click on the different categories in the sidebar. I thought I was just stuck getting only shiny items.

It's true, they weren't exactly marked as being links. I only found out because I saw the numbers and thought, if they're still 0/10, there has to be way to get them, too. And just tried clicking, and bam!

Hoard! I don't care for the mate that showed up, but I do like my dude's Pile O' Bling. :D Was very proud of building that for him, given the limits on each category (thank goodness there were some gold-ish items in the Misc section as well as under Shinies; it took me a couple days to realise that, but it really helped when I realised I wanted to build a classic "dragon's hoard".)

I think the pheasant was my favourite Meat item, too. :D I built him a pheasant swag for his cave entrance, as "advertisement" to the ladies who dropped in!

I like your pile of bling! I briefly thought about using more of the misc gold items, too, but then I thought that would mess up the distances too much. The way I did it, I could imagine huge distant gold mountains like Erebor. *g*

Hope this works: boring green cave. It looked completely different before, though. With lots of shinies and more yellowgold-ish.
After finding out that a Canopy would stay I removed everything and created this one, one hour before the event ended*g*

I have to say that I was satisfied with the event - however I really would have liked to know which cave you get based on which male dragon you take. Meh.
Was happy that we didn't have to do much. While writing notes last year was definitely much fun it got kinda old this Christmas with sending presents - had no time&motivation to write messages in the end so I had lots of mana left...and of course I could not collect every wrapping paper etc.

the color of the cave sorta depended on the dragon's biome. choosing an old dragon would get the generic grey cave. happened to me too.

"Sorta" is the key word here, I guess. My Tri-Horn from the Alpine got a sandy desert cave after all.

I got super bored after day three and I also didn't know the females were supposed to be visible, so now I'm stuck with having layered items over the female... D:
I ended up with a copper which is okay, but she's facing away.

Yeah, the facing away thing botheres me the most. With my dragons I imagine he's just about to turn around to her to give her the rose (he's maybe a bit shy and tries to summon up some courage), and she's already on the way to go to him and got briefly distracted by the huge pile of pheasants.

I had to do a lot of travelling this last week, so I only played the first few days. Not much of a loss as I was a bit bored by then - it would have been more interesting if there were new items each day. I didn't have a clue the female was supposed to show in the cave, so I was surprised to see a Shadow Walker in the picture when I checked it yesterday. I assumed that only the definitive mate would show.

My Striped dragon was, of course, facing towards the left of the picture, and while the Shadow Walker's body is facing left too, her head is looking back as if telling her mates: "Come on, let's steal this fool's hoard while he's not looking!".

Yes, I am always ready to believe the worst of everyone, how did you guess? ; )

Then again, she might just be saying: "This stupid piece of mana is pinning my wing to the rock!".

Yeah, the lack of new items made me a bit grumpy. Kinda boring, using the same stuff every day, and not being allowed to mix and match as we liked. I so wanted more of those gold piles, but only ten shinies per day got used up so fast.

*snicker* I like both of your interpretations! We should post our hoards again and add speech bubbles and captions.
