When did the SS lineage look change?

I just did a test breeding with a 3G of mine that just grew up, and when I looked at the resulting lineage view I thought I'd done something wrong with influence. The alignment is so odd looking now on SS lines. I don't like it, at all. Is this how they look now?

The problem is it's not a true stair -- the 2nd gen is a bred male, so the rest of the stair should be bred males x CB females. You're switching to a bred female in the 3rd generation. To keep it a stair, you could have influenced the lunar male, and swapped the breeds, but you could only make a proper 2-breed stair with a 3rd gen copper, unfortunately, not a lunar herald.

At this point, what I would do is get a complementary 3rd gen up-stair (bred females & CB males), influence it male, and make an arrowhead, sort of like this. (I don't have a 4th gen arrowhead, this is a 5th, but it would look similar.)

Short stairs are easy to mix up! I had to stare at it for quite a while before it clicked. But it is still a pretty dragon. A lot of people would probably appreciate a short-gen egg from Jewel, even if the lineage is a bit awkward.

You know, another thing you could do would be to influence that egg female, then breed it with another male CB Copper until you get a copper egg, influence that male and breed with CB lunar heralds for two generations, and then switch back, you'd have an interesting sort of two-step alternating spiral with coppers on top and lunar heralds on the bottom... only thing is, it would take several more generations before the pattern became obvious.

Great, glad I could help you with ideas for what to do with your dragon! I like building mates and designing lineages that I think are pretty, never mind whether anyone else would be interested. Like this dragon - the father was part of a trade, and thought, you know, I bet I could build a mate and make a giant quadruple arrow out of that! So I did. I think it's pretty awesome, although its trade value would be nil. I had fun breeding it.

If you trade for another egg from ADP's 2G copper, you would need a copper egg to make a proper stair. You would have bred Copper males and CB lunar herald female mates. You could make a stair with a lunar herald egg, but you would have to influence it male and switch the breeds. That could be cool, too, if you switched breeds each step.
