Why are people breeding Snows to be messy AF?

 I've been wandering the AP, just to see what's there and so far every Snow I've picked up has been 12 gens or higher. It's last years release, I thought they'd be one of the few to have 2gs in the AP this year.  :/    Is this a thing, some messy massbreed event?

Out of the 15 or so I've picked up so far, 14 have been like this. Super high, train wreck lineages.

I can breed my own, but always like to find the closer to hatching ones via the AP.

Yeah, I noticed a lot of messy Snows, too. For some reason I have now forgotten, my goal is to have at least 5 of each holiday dragon, so every year I try to pick up three 2nd gens of last year's dragon from the AP, and I had a really hard time finding three 2G Snows this year. I usually pick and choose pairings that look nice and try to find ones with named parents, but this year I had to settle for some unnamed parents. (I ended up with Snow x Tetra, Snow x Silver Lunar Herald, and Snow x Solstice.)

EDIT: Just picked up this one if you want it. Nice pairing, but I've got all I want.

I usually try to get 2 each, for freezing as the 2 hatchie stages. I know gen or lineage shouldn't matter for that, but darnit, it does! :)

I have no clue why people are going for the messiest lineage they can with them.

Ugh, it's tempting, but I think I'll keep hunting and if worse comes to worst I'll breed my own on the last day. Thanks so much though!

It's not just you, I prefer pretty lineages (or even CBs) for freezing, too.

I had some luck with finding 2nd gen Snows on the first day, but two of them were killed and the one survivor is reserved for a friend. I bred my own, but I actually want to continue those lineages, so I'm not going to freeze them.

Yesterday, I did another round of Snow hunting, and boy was that hard! If there even were Snows to find, they were either CBs, or really messy. After a few hours I got lucky and found some pretty 2nd gens, so don't give up, they're out there somewhere.

I'm going to hunt again today. I'm off work now till the 3rd, so I'll have more time to wander the AP. I'm still curious as to why there is such a overload of so many trainwreck lineages on a dragon that is only a year old.

Yeah, I'm still hunting, too. But I'm also hunting for Enraged Aegis lineages, which seem even rarer than 2nd gen Snows. *sigh*

I just caught a 2g from an enraged. I've been collecting and hatching 2gs for Predator, but they went quiet on me. I told them I have these for them, but if they don't want them, or get back to me at all I'll poke at you regarding the Aegis if you're interested.

On a funny note, I've never enraged mine, nor seen an enraged one so when I first caught it I got all excited thinking it was a 2g from a Spriters alt. Then the Wiki had to go and ruin it all for me. :P

*G* Thank you very much for the offer, but as it so happens, I actually caught a sibling from that very clutch! And even though I really hate the Khusa dragons, I'm going to keep it, because colours and pose go really well together.

I love the Enraged form! The original Aegis is okay, and the colours are lovely, but the Enraged one is pretty awesome! I already have a pretty lineage with Gaias, which I hoped to continue, but nobody was interested in a trade so far.

You're welcome! I don't like Khusas very much either, so if they don't want them I'll roll it back to the AP.

OH! I like that lineage, the colors are super striking! :) I think about doing stuff with mine, because I know people have a hard time finding Aegis that are permanently enraged. But don't you have to keep killing something to keep them that way all the time? That was my biggest deterrent. Partly the killing, but also just keeping track of when I need to do it again for the rest of my DC life so as not to mess up others lineages.

Nope, nothing bad like that. Once they are in the state, you don't have to do anything to keep them like that. Just don't Pacify them by accident. Right now I have dead eggs on my scroll because of the viewbombing, so the newly bred/caught eggs will be all fine. I can enrage them without having to kill anything.

Maybe I will enrage one of mine then, after the holidays are over so I'm not losing a slot to a killed egg.

Or catch a messy AP egg, put it in all the hatcheries, and let it die of sickness. *g* Sounds mean, but you wouldn't lose your slot that way, and could already breed the first holiday pair.

Or even faster, pick a CB egg from the other biomes and put it into all the hatcheries right away. Should die of sickness within an hour or so...

Btw, I just caught that one. I'm very pleased, but it will be difficult to breed a mate for him. Unless I catch a 2nd gen by sheer luck, it will take me one to two years. Wow.

I would have loved to have it if it had named parents. I threw so many pretty lineages back into the AP because of unnamed parents! :(

Well, it has gained one parent name thus far! :) I guess a lot of people breed first and name later.

(There's also a dragon on my scroll named Please Name My Mother. Not to mention one named That's Not How To Spell Morphing, because mom is named 'Morhphing Jadite.' *wince* It has worked for me once, I will say! I have a dragon named That's How You Spell Epitaph who used to be named That's Not How You Spell Epitaph...)

Yeah, but on dragons which are years old? I don't name all my dragons right away, but it never takes more than a couple of months to get around to it. With unnamed Holiday dragons I always think that the user had one/two/three/four years time to name their dragon, and if it isn't yet then it probably won't be named in the future.

Haha, with all the weird names on DC, spelling error is not the first thing I would think when I saw one of those names, but alternative spelling because the name was taken already.

Nah, not if the Holiday is years old. If it's the first time they've bred that common, though, maybe it just didn't get named till they bred it? It's weird to me, but does seem to be how some people operate.


Well, of course I checked; "Morphing Jadite" is available (as was the 'epitaph' name, way back when), so it's a spelling error! Which I suspected anyway, because the random extra H was a weird choice from a variant-name perspective, but I did confirm my guess.
