Well, there's no notice of any events so far, but I can't access my dragons either. so I'm suspicioussss. (it's probably just maintenance lol)

I guess breeding might start soon, so what dragons do you hope to catch this year - other than Hollies?
Which are your preferred breeding partners for your dragons? I'm going to make the Yulebuck/Stripe checker I was hoping for! :)

Notice just went up. :) Sounds fun! And different. Shame it has to wait until 9pm to start as well though. I want to play now! *grin* None of my dragons are dressed up though. Hope they do that again this year as well.

I'm replacing a Yulebuck that I was dumb with as a Noob. When they released I caught 1 CB one then bred it to make a ugly messy second one. Oops! A friend is going to breed me a pretty 2G one this year. And I have 2 Holly's being gifted from 2 people who blindsided me with the offers. *happy dance* I'm breeding all my CB Holiday's as gifts this year for people on the forums who requested. Hopefully that goes smoothly and people grab their eggs quickly. :)

All right, that does look interesting. I'm not sure how much time I can spend online - I'm going on a ten day trip to family and friends. But I will try my best.

No real plans for breeding my holiday dragons. The last few years I simply bred them to random common dragons and released them to the AP. I guess I could go to the forums and take a look what kind of eggs people want. I have two CBs of the last four years available.

I'll be visiting my family as well, so I don't know if I'll be lucky in the holly department.

I'll probably dump on the AP as well or not breed at all. except for that yulebuck of course.

I have all the previous years' dragons, except for Hollies, so that's all I'm going to be hunting for. I have one messy Holly, but will be trying to catch an even-gen one this year.

All my previous holiday dragons are CB except for the Yulebucks, which are 2nd gen. They both have matching even-gen mates, so I'll be breeding 3rd gen yulebuck x stripe and yulebuck x stone checkers. The CBs I'll probably ask around and see what people want.

(Just read the event announcement. "An all-new, never-before-released prize dragon" hmph. Grumble grumble McScroogeypants.)

I'm not too sure about the new prize dragon. maybe it'll be a different color tinsel? do you think it'll be a new sprite?

I think when he says "never-before-released dragon" it means a whole new breed, with a new sprite. A tinsel recolor would just be another tinsel. I hope he decides to give away more prizes this year. 30 CB dragons for a 10,000+ player userbase is just too few. It gives those few people with the prizes an enormous advantage over everybody else. I've never thought the special prize dragons were a good idea, but it seems I'm in the minority, so I just have to deal with it. But I'm still grumpy about it!

I did manage to catch a very pretty 5th gen even Thuwed Holly, though, so I'm happy! Good luck with your hunting! I've already seen far more Holly eggs in the AP this year than I've ever seen before, so it is getting easier to catch them. I was actually able to be a bit particular about the lineage I kept.

I bred my Yulebucks last night and dropped the eggs to the AP. I decided to breed one set a day, so today sometime I'll breed my Snow Angels, tomorrow the Ribbon Dancers, day after the Winter Magis. Haven't decided about my one lone adult Holly yet. I was going to try to trade an egg, but I don't think I will get what I'm looking for, there are too many nicer lineage Hollies around. I may just drop or gift it.

Hey, if you don't find a better offer, can I have that (not yet bred) Holly? Let me know what I could get for you. I would offer my firstborn son but he is a teenager with an attitude, so he wouldn't be a fair trade for a dragon.

Sure. There's a bit of a problem, though -- several people on the forums have said that they caught a new Holly egg, then bred their previous year's Holly, and when they selected an egg to keep, their newly caught egg auto-abandoned along with the held eggs from the clutch. So... I'm not going to breed my adult Holly until I hear that this glitch has been resolved, or until my new egg grows up, or both! I don't want to risk losing my precious new Holly egg. There will be plenty of time for it to grow up before the breeding season ends, and then it should be safe, I hope. But I'm keeping my eye on the situation.

Anyway, what I was hoping to get for my egg was either a CB Silver, 2nd gen Gold from Bright Pink, or 2nd gen Gold from male Marrow. With the prevalence of nicer, shorter-lineaged Hollies, though, I'm thinking mine's not really worth a CB metal. A 2G metal, maybe. But at this point, I'm not going to be that particular.

I could try to breed both of the 2nd gens.

The only way around that problem if TJ doesn't fix it, would be to put your new egg in a teleport link before breeding the adult dragon, but you are right, it is better not to risk it.

Either one of the two golds would be fabulous! I would have a mate waiting for it.

I hadn't thought of putting the egg into teleport before breeding... that should work, too. I am trying to check the Help section to see if there's been any word on the problem, but the forum's been up and down and horribly laggy all afternoon. There's no hurry, though. I think it would be safest to let my new Holly grow up before breeding the old one, anyway. If I incubate the egg, it will grow up Sunday night/Monday morning and there will still be two days to breed the old one. Would that work out for you to pick up the egg then?

Sunday/Monday would be excellent for me! I'll start breeding my Golds as soon as they are out of cooldown later today. Cross fingers!

Great! It will probably be Monday morning my time. (I'm on Pacific time, three hours ahead of Cave Time.) I'll make sure we're both online so we can do the breed + transfer right away.

That would be awesome if your Golds produced right away! But I know how stubborn metals can be, so I'm happy to wait as long as necessary.

Oh, by the way, do you have any preference for a mate when I breed my Holly? This is his lineage. I was thinking either a CB Red Dorsal or CB Shadow Walker to continue previous mates. Or I could use my CB Gold female.

I'll be in Spain by then, that is 6 hours behind Cave Time, so we'll have 9 hours difference. Anyway, I can access the Cave from my phone, so I could pick it at almost any time.

thanks for the offer. apart from hollies I have all the previous dragons in CB or second gen. I'll try hunting for hollies when I have time, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I am not getting my hopes up either. I already accepted last year that it is very unlikely that I'll manage to catch one from the AP, and everybody with a Holly to trade seems to want Neglecteds or CB Metals for them. I'll also be travelling abroad to see my family, and packing (and getting the kids to pack!) always takes longer than it should.
