Dec. 21st, 2012 05:40 pmJust curious what you all thought of this years event?
I liked it but did not love it. And to be honest, until I found the link for the .doc that breaks it all down for you, I did not even like it. A lot of the recipes were a pain when I was trying to work them out myself. I liked last years much better. Partly because it was not so "thinky" but also because it lasted several days. And even when you had read all 12 days you could go back and re-do your wreath as much as you wanted during the event. This one, when it was done on the first day, that was it. It was just, done. I know there is a mini-puzzle that will un-lock on the 25th but still...
And on a side "I need to vent" note.. some Ahole decided to post my Holly (First one in all these years) and Yulebuck 2G egg, here, there and EVERYWHERE. Woke up to find them both sick with hundreds of clicks and thousands of views. :( They were due to hatch today but due to sickness I've had them fogged since this morning and they are still sick. If they die I will be gutted.

Date: 2012-12-22 02:48 am (UTC)I found the recipes frustrating, too. I'd never have been able to finish without the cheat sheet. But I always get totally obsessed with these collecting events and can't stop till I've got everything, so I'm kind of glad to have it all done for the time being.
I was kind of bummed last year that the wreaths were frozen without notice. I tossed a few ornaments on mine each day, but planned to play with it once I'd gotten them all. Then before I had the chance, it was over. At least my wreath's not totally empty, but I was looking forward to doing more with it.

Date: 2012-12-22 09:23 pm (UTC)Ha, you are like me. In things like that I HAVE to collect/finish all at once if I can. I won't even mention what time I went to bed the night it started. *embarrassed*
Ugh, sorry about your wreath. There should have been warning that it was shutting off. I had a lot on mine but I had wanted to do a bit more, re-arrange a little. Shame it did not go live again this year. I think I will check once I answer stuff here, just in case.. *grin*

Date: 2012-12-23 07:57 pm (UTC)I've been watching my Holly carefully during the day, but haven't fogged it overnight, just crossed my fingers and trusted to luck. She's fine, though, and she grows up tonight!
Yeah, I went back and checked my wreath, too, but no luck! It doesn't look bad, actually, I think it has a nice arrangement of ornaments on it. I just wish I'd had more time to play! Or at least more notice when it would be over.

Date: 2012-12-22 08:38 am (UTC)Figuring out the recipes was a lot of fun until I got stuck. *g* I liked this event because it was over fast once you all linked me to the spread sheet. This time of the year is work heavy for me, and I really don't have much time for anything, and now that work is over I'll be with friends and relatives for the holidays, and internet connection isn't always available.

Date: 2012-12-22 09:12 pm (UTC)I agree with you about the event. I tried making the recipes myself, but the only thing I managed was boiling water, and that was only by chance. I kept thinking I needed salt and some kind of fat - butter, oil, something. I tried making the butter myself and got cheese instead, I tried to make the dough, jam, an omelette, a salad, but just got big messes... so you make jam without heat?, really? and no water on plain dough? Well, my mum and grandmothers would be shocked. The thing is - without the spreadsheet I was frustrated, but then with the spreadsheet everything was over too quickly and not that much fun! :/

Date: 2012-12-22 09:27 pm (UTC)The recipes totally made no sense at all. And some of the oven prep stuff was like.. WHA?!
And agreed, without the spreadsheet I was cursing at my screen but with it, a few hours later, DONE. And now I am twiddling my thumbs until the 25th.
