From TJ, in a thread:

"For the record, I fixed the counters shortly after the release started, so they'll be much higher than you're used to.

Previously, they didn't count people "in the process of" getting an egg (AKA on one of the /get/ pages) as being in a biome, so for the past X years the numbers have been lower than the actual number of people hunting."

So while it IS crazy in there the higher numbers aren't actually reflecting a huge upswing in people hunting new eggs.

I see. That would explain why there were around 800 people in the Coast when the drop started, then the drop stopped, and when it came back there were arond 1400 people there. :D

I wonder how it actually compares to the numbers from before? Does it count every "get" page open? Some of us open hundreds of new tabs in less than a minute, spam-clicking eggs. The count may be way overinflated, rather than under-counted as it was before.

Still, there had to have been more people than usual for a new release hunting last night. The last few releases, even holiday releases, I've easily caught multiple eggs on the first drop. Last night, I spam-clicked for a solid ten minutes for one single egg.

I should have asked last night, when I first saw his comment posted. Now, it's likely to just get lost in the shuffle.

I suspected they'd be pretty common when the initial drop went on for so long. I remember the Blusangs only dropped for about a minute on their first drop -- a sure sign they were destined to be rare-ish. Most average breeds drop for 4 - 5 minutes. These dropped for close to ten minutes. Another super-common to clog up the Coast! Heh. At least it should be easy to go back and get my second CB pair later.
