Per TJ:

"One dragon breed, eight eggs. Hunt these down in the forest and alpine.

This month marks the end of consistent beginning-of-the-month releases. While knowing when to look is nice, it also seems to have become a bit stale. Future releases will (very likely) still be on weekends, but may be scattered throughout the month."

Egg description: There is a thin layer of moisture coating this egg.

TJ has 8 eggs showing, all look identical, and all have same description. So not sure what the 8 part means yet. Nor am I happy about random drops in the future. :/ I like knowing when it is coming, so I can make sure I have room and catch them the day of the drop.

I'm guessing it's one breed with several different variants, either in color or pose or both. Maybe like the Nebulas (only I hope you can tell which variant you've got before they gender) or the Two-headed Lindwurms (except you can't tell by the eggs which you've got). Then there would be either two variants, with dimorphism (4 eggs each for each variant: male & female hatchies plus male & female adults), or four variants with no dimorphism (2 eggs for each variant, hatchie & adult). I'm hoping it's two variants, one dropping in the Alpine and the other in the Forest, just to make things easier.

I don't really mind about varying the day of the drops. Maybe some months there will be more than one. I liked it in the past when you never knew when a new release was coming.

TJ's eggs have hatched, and he's got two colors of hatchies: four green and four yellow. Now, we just wait and see if the color is linked to the biome! (I influenced mine in pairs according to biome, so if they are biome-linked, I'll just need one more from the Alpine and I'll be all set with 2 pairs of each color.)

I somehow missed the drop happened at noon, so happened to be up at 4 am my time (EST) to get them. Thankfully I was able to get 4 Alpine, 3 Forest (which took forever). I also missed out on a blue 2-headed Lindwurm and an Alpine Copper *woe*

I'm not really happy about the switch back to random drops. I have a weird schedule and don't always have internet access, so trying to arrange regular drops was difficult enough. This is just kind of annoying. It looks like the majority of people on the forum aren't thrilled with it either.

This means I can't bother with breeding or lineage because I have to keep my scroll open at all times in case of a drop. Meh.

I understand all of that. My schedule is very erratic since I work at home, but don't have time to keep checking the forum every hour to see what's going on. I checked the forum at midnight on Saturday (Friday into Saturday) and there was nothing about a new drop, so I promptly forgot about it until Sunday morning. I had no clue the drop started at noon my time, and was lucky enough to get 7 new eggs. I have very little trade fodder too, which is why I still don't have a CB female gold (all my golds were caught years ago, before it was that difficult, but before we could gender stuff. IIRC I didn't get a gold female of any sort until my 13th or 14th one of any sort) or a CB green copper for my mom. It took forever to get a second CB blusang because I missed that drop too.

I like them early as possible because it means I have them, and I don't have to worry about them going rare or impossible on me (see Blusangs, Coppers, even blue 2-headed Lindwurms). So I totally feel for you. At least this way if I knew there was a drop and I wasn't around and didn't have internet, I could ask someone to get me a pair. My phone is too slow for catching anything, but trading/gifting works just fine.

I've been on DC for 6 years, and I am well aware it's TJ's sandbox (not being snide to YOU - he is just very good at reminding people he'll do whatever the hell he wants), but yes, it would be nice if he actually talked to his players and got a consensus of what works for people, what doesn't. Not knowing when you need an open scroll sucks. It means you can't breed, can't trade/gift, have space to just play with anything other than the anticipation of maybe, maybe not with drops. And I hate to dump eggs if I've every intention of keeping them. :(

I play another game (Doctor Who: Legacy) and they're a very small company, but the owners are awesome. They ask their players on assorted social media for input on pretty much everything, will adjust levels if too many people are having issues with them, give away all sorts of free stuff, and are just lovely people. It's also a for-free game, and their attitude vs other game companies is staggering. I wish TJ would take a few lessons from Susan and Lee.

I guess I'm the odd one out; I rarely-verging-on-never remember when new releases are coming up, anyway, so they've always been "random" to me!

Plus, there's the added complication that I work a full day on Fridays and Saturdays, so I really don't enjoy 'weekend' relesases that I have to scrabble after in the wee hours of the night or else hope drops will continue through Sunday, when I have more time. "Weekend" releases are NOT something I particularly like in my DC experience. At least if they're random, there's a chance that some of them will happen on one of my free-time days!

(And, while I'm generally a fan of asking one's fanbase for opinions... let's face it, most people do have weekends free. Any sort of voting or polling is going to result in me being screwed over and weekends winning, so. In this case I'm kind of glad TJ isn't putting the scheduling of new breed drops up to some kind of democratic process.)
