I have a question: I bred a pair of Red Coppers today and got a Red Copper egg. My daughter bred a Brown Copper to a Spitfire a few days ago and got a Brown Copper egg. Do colours for Coppers always breed true or were these just coincidences? What have your results been, if you have bred yours?

It's just a coincidence - I've checked out several coppers on Dragonmarket, and even though most of them bred true (my own did, too), I've also found some that didn't.

My Green Coppers bred true but this is the only pair I have attempted to breed as well so it could just be luck.

My results have been no interest, no egg, no interest, so I cannot help!

They're saying on the forums that it depends on the biome the partner comes from. So PBs always breed true, but mixed pairs will be Red if the partner is from the Alpine/Forest, Brown from the Desert/Volcano, Green from the Coast/Jungle. I know some people were wondering what would happen if the partner was born/bred pre-biome, but I didn't see if that question has been settled yet. Or what happens if the partner is multi-biome, like the rares and holidays, although it appears to be random, from dancing_serpent's examples below.

That would fit with your daughter's experience also, since Spitfires are from the Desert, so would breed Brown Coppers.

I bred my green copper with a red one for my mom, and got a green. I haven't tried a purebred yet. Interesting info from Codyne. I now definitely need to try this out. :)
