Date: 2013-09-08 07:04 am (UTC)Part of the problem is/was that the initial drops were just insanely short.

Date: 2013-09-08 07:20 am (UTC)I still haven't seen another CB copper since May. Some people swear they exist, but I've seen more metals (and miss them!) than any coppers. (Thankfully I got a pair of each in May. My poor mom is still trying to get a CB Green, but is unwilling and unable to get anything to trade.)

Date: 2013-09-08 07:25 am (UTC)Well, I've never actually seen him adjust it, too, but that's what I get from the people commenting - for some reason, I tend to read the new release threads. g
I did see exactly two Coppers in the Forest biome while hunting for Summers and green Lindwurms, but I was too surprised to even attempt catching them. And I know they have to drop, because I see quite a couple of them for trade on Dragonmarket. I still only have my initial four, though.

Date: 2013-09-08 07:36 am (UTC)I have to believe that there are Coppers dropping since I've seen some for trade too (for insane requests), but I have yet to see a single one myself. I've seen maybe one or two Bloodscales since May (and missed them), but they seem to be easier to find. Then again, it took me over a year to catch a Blusang -- I had one CB I was gifted after they dropped (and I missed out on it due to real life stuff), and then nothing for over a year. I'm still not sure HOW I managed the blusang since I hadn't seen one in the Coastal for many many months. Not complaining, of course.
It also helps when the Biomes actually move. I haven't managed another green opal because I've rarely seen them drop, and the Forest moves so slowly that I have no patience for it.

Date: 2013-09-08 07:49 am (UTC)I mostly hunt on the xx:59h to xx:00h switch. Those first few seconds are the best, there's often good stuff and less people in the biomes. As soon as the clock switches to xx:01h I stop hunting.

Date: 2013-09-08 08:49 am (UTC)At the time of the Trio eggs, I managed to get one CB Thunder. Had better luck with the magmas and icicles. I still only have one CB Thunder, but thankfully, I don't have any major lineages to worry about there. I do remember the Trios dropping for several days without any other eggs at the time, though.
I find that from :59 to about :01 is a nightmare -- even when there's not a new release, the cave just freezes up and I can't get it to refresh at all. It's like everyone runs there and starts refreshing like crazy and it's impossible to get it to do a bloody thing for me. :-/ I'll have to try a minute or two earlier! Thanks for the tip. :)

Date: 2013-09-08 09:16 am (UTC)Coppers I didn't get that many of during the release, so I can only hope that someday they'll be easier to catch!

Date: 2013-09-11 10:39 pm (UTC)I got 2 of each copper during the release, but my mom only had six slots and so she was short, so no greens. Plus she ran out of pinks, so they gendered weird -- both her browns are girls, both her reds are boys, so she can't breed reds either. She as a lot of 2Gs now, but she'd assumed she could find more since TJ was all "oh, you don't have to worry, they're permanent.". Sheesh.

Date: 2013-09-08 07:21 pm (UTC)I have not seen a Copper drop since the initial release. Like you, I know they are out there but I've yet to see one myself.

Date: 2013-09-08 07:27 pm (UTC)But the limits? Sheesh. In the end, we all have some kind of limits, and once someone's egglocked, they can't get more for at least 5 hours. A lot of people do catch with the plan to share with friends, family or trade as necessary. Even at Halloween, when there's a free-for-all, we all get some. Well, other than the first two years where I never managed a CB vampire (my mom did, but you couldn't transfer them for some bizarre reason!) and the second year where I had to have someone catch them for me because the lag was so horrible.

Date: 2013-09-08 07:37 pm (UTC)Wow, you've played longer then me I think. :) I'm pretty sure I started after Vamps were actually dropping in the biomes. Or else for some odd reason I chose not to get any. Which is possible, because for whatever reasoning my brain came up with I only got 2 ShadowWalkers at the original drop, instead of grabbing my egg limit. No clue why I did that. :P

Date: 2013-09-08 09:07 pm (UTC)I seem to always have issues with DC though -- like I said, white screens no matter which browser I use. I turned off JAVA and it was spazzing out more than when it was on, at least with Chrome. And if you turn off images in Chrome, there's no visible link which is bizarre. It didn't used to be that way. I also use FF sometimes, but it's slower than Chrome overall.
Once the commons start mixing in, I have next to no luck. I almost always mis-click. I will be celebrating my 5th anniversary as of October. The vamps were the first Halloween eggs to drop, and back then, the only way to transfer eggs was via a really complicated ritual of abandoning the egg, making sure the recipient had the link, and then clicking like mad and praying no one picked it up in the AP before anyone else did. For some really crazy reason, the vamp eggs couldn't be abandoned. I have no luck catching anything, but my mom got 3, and was going to give me one. I've got plenty now thanks to the biting BSA, but it was really frustrating at the time.
I remember when the Pumpkins dropped, the lag was a nightmare, and I couldn't catch a bloody thing. Ditto the first Valentine eggs, which is why I have no CBs of those. I was away that weekend, and the hotel internet I had was just horrible, and there was no way to catch anything. I was shocked I was able to catch this past year's at the same hotel with my slow netbook!
My mom never got the cave dwellers last year because we were out of power for 2 weeks due to Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy. A friend took the chance for me and used my scroll to catch mine, so this year, I'll breed my mom some, and hopefully she'll be able to catch a few in the AP.

Date: 2013-09-08 09:21 pm (UTC)If you or your mom want 2G Pumpkins or Lurkers, I have a 3CB Pumpkins and a ton of Lurkers. I can breed to whatever you'd like or make them PB.
My scroll is here if there are other 2G Holidays you want:
http://dragcave.net/user/Jocosa They start on page 2 of my scroll. CBs are labeled.
Ugh, I recall the old days of pasting the link in the url and F5ing like a fiend to get that egg transferred. Scary days!! :P

Date: 2013-09-11 10:44 pm (UTC)I've got 2 CB pumpkins myself, as well as some 2Gs, but maybe some new blood would be good. My mom would love the 2G cave lurkers so they're not all related to mine. Plus I like to just breed my holidays like a mad woman and let them all go free, unless someone I know really wants one. I sometimes keep one or two 2Gs just for myself with the Halloweens (obviously can't with the Xmas or Valentines), so additional cave lurkers for her would be fantastic.
Thank you so much!
I remember practically having heart attacks when it came to transferring. I know I lost at least one gold baby because my friend had a slow connection, and she missed it. The teleport is so much better.

Date: 2013-09-11 10:45 pm (UTC)When they were first released, I saw a bunch of green lindwurms in the Forest, but missed them all. Now I haven't seen any opals of either colour for ages. I saw a duotone today, but missed it. Along with a Blusang and the copper. Lag is sucking again. :(
