Last release before Halloween, according to TJ! Two different eggs, they are found in the Desert and the Coast biomes:

Desert: The air shimmers around this egg, as if from heat.

Coast: This egg is wet from the waves and has bright red stripes.

I have my 7. And with my crappy connection I was stunned how easy it was. I got 4 at 11pm PST and my last 3 at the 11:05 drop. Both drops lasted a long ass time. I wish it was always this easy!

Initially, it was a nightmare. The 12:00 drop was like a minute long, and the five minute drops were like 3-6 eggs. I'd open 40-60 tabs and have nothing.

Thankfully it started to get easier in the past half hour or so.

My mom wound up with 5 Coastals, 2 Deserts, so if someone wants to trade a desert for a coastal, let me know?

I really really need to remember this rather than making myself totally apoplectic from midnight to about 2 am my time. I just always worry about commons mixing in too quickly. Someone said they saw one or two in an hourly drop in the Desert, but it seems to have been an anomaly.

Part of the problem is/was that the initial drops were just insanely short.

I've never seen him adjust it -- iirc, the commons starting trickling in around 3 am EST for the last drop which thankfully I didn't have to worry about. Usually I catch something in the first hour, but this time, it was just impossible. I do miss the old days when new eggs dropped pretty much without any competition for the first 12-24 hours.

I still haven't seen another CB copper since May. Some people swear they exist, but I've seen more metals (and miss them!) than any coppers. (Thankfully I got a pair of each in May. My poor mom is still trying to get a CB Green, but is unwilling and unable to get anything to trade.)

Phew, managed to get my 2 pairs although I cannot influence them properly...I am pretty sure I will have to post an entry for gender swap here later. In 5 hours when my chicken hatches I am going for my 5th, another Coast one - I have a feeling they'll be harder to get later?! The new Coppers or green Lindwurms!

I am so thankful we didn't move this weekend! The eggs look very pretty, I hope the dragons will look elegant too! It was my first release I experienced live, I have learnt one thing: better not start hunting right from the start - a desaster!*g*
I am happy I could catch mine before the commons come back to the cave, as well.

(And I am also thankful that there'll be no other release until Halloween. Time to get my Silver trophy and catch up on other eggs!)

I read the new release threads up to a point -- but eventually, they all deteriorate into a) I cannot catch a bloody thing, I am frustrated and unhappy and this sucks and b) how dare you complain since I managed to catch 7 eggs in 4 minutes on the first drop and you clearly have no right to be upset. ;p

I have to believe that there are Coppers dropping since I've seen some for trade too (for insane requests), but I have yet to see a single one myself. I've seen maybe one or two Bloodscales since May (and missed them), but they seem to be easier to find. Then again, it took me over a year to catch a Blusang -- I had one CB I was gifted after they dropped (and I missed out on it due to real life stuff), and then nothing for over a year. I'm still not sure HOW I managed the blusang since I hadn't seen one in the Coastal for many many months. Not complaining, of course.

It also helps when the Biomes actually move. I haven't managed another green opal because I've rarely seen them drop, and the Forest moves so slowly that I have no patience for it.

ETA: Took another Coast one because I fell in love with the look of the hatchlings!

Well for me it was the opposite. I went once to the Desert and got my 2 eggs in one drop. Getting the Coast ones was a fight.

...on the other side, the Desert eggs do look more like eggs which I would consider as "rare", I have to admit. AND it has the word "shimmer" in its description...maybe I should go for another Desert one, after all. ARGH choices!

I missed the initial blusang release by a day or two, and had absolutely NO luck getting one on my own. I got whatever else came at that time (I think it might've been olives and brimstones?) by myself, but the blusangs were impossible. I was gifted one thanks to New Release Gifting, and then have gotten a few bred ones here and there, but I needed a female CB for a shimmerscale lineage (which still hasn't yielded anything *grumbles*) and didn't have one.

At the time of the Trio eggs, I managed to get one CB Thunder. Had better luck with the magmas and icicles. I still only have one CB Thunder, but thankfully, I don't have any major lineages to worry about there. I do remember the Trios dropping for several days without any other eggs at the time, though.

I find that from :59 to about :01 is a nightmare -- even when there's not a new release, the cave just freezes up and I can't get it to refresh at all. It's like everyone runs there and starts refreshing like crazy and it's impossible to get it to do a bloody thing for me. :-/ I'll have to try a minute or two earlier! Thanks for the tip. :)

I can't catch anything of the trio or blusangs either, luckily I got some in the initial release - that's always my best hope.
Coppers I didn't get that many of during the release, so I can only hope that someday they'll be easier to catch!

Don't forget team "It is SO unfair of people to catch 6 or 7 when I have none, they should be limited!!". *grin*

I have not seen a Copper drop since the initial release. Like you, I know they are out there but I've yet to see one myself.

Yay, congrats!! :)

The :05 one shocked me. I was being super slow because I did not want to get locked in the one biome. So I would scroll wheel click 3 times, then go look at my scroll, then go back, click 3 more, go look at scroll, repeat cycle until I had 3 of one and 4 of the other. I was able to do that several times on just that one :05 drop. That NEVER happens. Normally it is like a flash of 6 eggs, then nothing more. I hope TJ does all drops this way.

I love the Costal S2 hatchies. So cute. I'm iffy on the other one. Will decide how I feel when it is an adult.

LOL Yep, forgot that. I do understand the frustration of people with slow connections, slow computers, etc. and it does suck that the initial releases last about 15 seconds max, and the lag is just insane -- I kept seeing white screens and the links jumping to the left side of the screen with no background with regularity. Even when I have luck catching eggs, I don't feel the need to brag *or* tell people to shut up if the haven't had as much luck.

But the limits? Sheesh. In the end, we all have some kind of limits, and once someone's egglocked, they can't get more for at least 5 hours. A lot of people do catch with the plan to share with friends, family or trade as necessary. Even at Halloween, when there's a free-for-all, we all get some. Well, other than the first two years where I never managed a CB vampire (my mom did, but you couldn't transfer them for some bizarre reason!) and the second year where I had to have someone catch them for me because the lag was so horrible.

Yeah, that is always my way of thinking too. The people that are taking 6 or 7, most gift and even if not, they are now locked and out of the biomes. The quicker people fill up, the sooner they leave the cave. I see it as a good thing. I have a horrible connection. Like you, at times, all I get is a page of white or super slow refreshes. Plus I am normally a spazz clicker during drops. I'm all over the place, and most times I'm not even hitting the actual egg. :P Because of this I know to go in at around 2-4am cave time. It is the only chance I have at getting new eggs. Once commons mix in, it's over for me.

Wow, you've played longer then me I think. :) I'm pretty sure I started after Vamps were actually dropping in the biomes. Or else for some odd reason I chose not to get any. Which is possible, because for whatever reasoning my brain came up with I only got 2 ShadowWalkers at the original drop, instead of grabbing my egg limit. No clue why I did that. :P

I tend to gift 2Gs but once I get my initial eggs, if I can catch more, I always gift. A lot of people are happy with just one pair of whatever new eggs there are, and share the love, which is awesome. I have a fairly fast connection and fairly fast laptop, but I am kind of spazzy when it comes to clicking (terrible hand/eye coordination) so not as fast as others. I just learned a really good trick last night -- I don't use a mouse (since laptop mice are kind of crappy anyway), but a track pad. Instead of clicking on the track pad, I just line my cursor up where the link is, then control R or control F5 with one hand, and click like a madwoman on the left trackpad button. The cursor doesn't slide around that much, if at all, so it's easier to at least be on target. :)

I seem to always have issues with DC though -- like I said, white screens no matter which browser I use. I turned off JAVA and it was spazzing out more than when it was on, at least with Chrome. And if you turn off images in Chrome, there's no visible link which is bizarre. It didn't used to be that way. I also use FF sometimes, but it's slower than Chrome overall.

Once the commons start mixing in, I have next to no luck. I almost always mis-click. I will be celebrating my 5th anniversary as of October. The vamps were the first Halloween eggs to drop, and back then, the only way to transfer eggs was via a really complicated ritual of abandoning the egg, making sure the recipient had the link, and then clicking like mad and praying no one picked it up in the AP before anyone else did. For some really crazy reason, the vamp eggs couldn't be abandoned. I have no luck catching anything, but my mom got 3, and was going to give me one. I've got plenty now thanks to the biting BSA, but it was really frustrating at the time.

I remember when the Pumpkins dropped, the lag was a nightmare, and I couldn't catch a bloody thing. Ditto the first Valentine eggs, which is why I have no CBs of those. I was away that weekend, and the hotel internet I had was just horrible, and there was no way to catch anything. I was shocked I was able to catch this past year's at the same hotel with my slow netbook!

My mom never got the cave dwellers last year because we were out of power for 2 weeks due to Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy. A friend took the chance for me and used my scroll to catch mine, so this year, I'll breed my mom some, and hopefully she'll be able to catch a few in the AP.

There seem to be a lot of people in the Trading Forum (Caveborn Trades) that are looking for Coastals. My mom just traded her one extra coastal for another desert, and there were other people who were asking. :)

Huh, my oldest dragon is a Vine from May 2008 so for whatever reason I just didn't snag any from the cave. Maybe I didn't like them back then. I do now though and have a handful. I wish I had grabbed up more old Pinks and Frills back then too. I didn't like the old pinks then, but for some reason I do now. And I only grabbed a pair of Frills because I wasn't really using the forums back then and had no idea the spriter was going to pull them from the site. :(

If you or your mom want 2G Pumpkins or Lurkers, I have a 3CB Pumpkins and a ton of Lurkers. I can breed to whatever you'd like or make them PB.
My scroll is here if there are other 2G Holidays you want:
http://dragcave.net/user/Jocosa They start on page 2 of my scroll. CBs are labeled.

Ugh, I recall the old days of pasting the link in the url and F5ing like a fiend to get that egg transferred. Scary days!! :P

I went with "which egg is prettier", and it was an easy choice because red-and-blue doesn't do much for me as a colour scheme (plus we already have the bleeding-moons). So me and mum stocked up not-quite-equally in favour of the desert ones.

The word "shimmer" sounds like it will make a prettier dragon than "red stripes", too. Let's hope the dragon does prove to be shimmery and roughly the same colours as the egg!

And I have to say, in terms of "which will be rarer"... my bet's always on the Desert. It has so many more 'desirable' species than the Coast does, Blusangs notwithstanding.

I was lucky with the trios, but I remember spending a lot of time, late at night, trying to catch them at my friend's house cos it was over Thanksgiving. Blusangs were just a nightmare. I missed the release by a day or two, then had NO luck. I'm shocked that I found one a few weeks ago and actually caught it. I saw one today along with a copper (Alpine one), but missed them both. Still, proof that they do exist!

I got 2 of each copper during the release, but my mom only had six slots and so she was short, so no greens. Plus she ran out of pinks, so they gendered weird -- both her browns are girls, both her reds are boys, so she can't breed reds either. She as a lot of 2Gs now, but she'd assumed she could find more since TJ was all "oh, you don't have to worry, they're permanent.". Sheesh.

My oldest dragons are a cb white, and messy skywing, black and vines which I got in the AP. I had very little luck in the main cave in those days. I only have 3 of the old pinks, and only 1 cb, I think (the other two were her daughters). And a few frills. I thought the Frills were ugly (still do) so wasn't too keen on them. I liked the pinks, so I don't know why I didn't get more. Esp when they were really easy to get.

I've got 2 CB pumpkins myself, as well as some 2Gs, but maybe some new blood would be good. My mom would love the 2G cave lurkers so they're not all related to mine. Plus I like to just breed my holidays like a mad woman and let them all go free, unless someone I know really wants one. I sometimes keep one or two 2Gs just for myself with the Halloweens (obviously can't with the Xmas or Valentines), so additional cave lurkers for her would be fantastic.

Thank you so much!

I remember practically having heart attacks when it came to transferring. I know I lost at least one gold baby because my friend had a slow connection, and she missed it. The teleport is so much better.

I saw a copper in the Alpine today (which of course I missed). It's been so long since I've seen one that I almost didn't remember what the description was!

When they were first released, I saw a bunch of green lindwurms in the Forest, but missed them all. Now I haven't seen any opals of either colour for ages. I saw a duotone today, but missed it. Along with a Blusang and the copper. Lag is sucking again. :(

I saw a lot of Coastals today. I picked up another 3 this afternoon. I haven't seen any of the desert ones, but I wasn't trying that hard to find them either. I am not crazy about the adult Deserts -- there's something off about them, kind of like the black-capped Teimars. The eggs were much prettier.

The Coastals (red-finned tidals?) are much prettier all grown up.
